THE HEALING GARDEN // SUNSHINE COAST PUBLIC UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL // AUS // 2017
Here the vision for public art is to recognise the importance of the hospital as a facility serving the region, and using the art strategy to gain recognition, establish a sense of place and assist with integrating the facility into the fabric of the region. Public art will complement, contrast and enhance the architectural structures and landscaping elements, to create an integrated healing environment to support patient wellbeing. iAM Projects was responsible for curating an extensive collection of wall based works for the hospital.
These works are based on the healing properties of nature which have massive implications for public health. The suite of handprinted and painted prints, harness the colours of natural dyes and are embedded with the direct pressings of flowers. Giving them a sense of natural abundance and serenity of a flowering garden. The woks aim to create a sense and calm and restfulness to enable the body to rejuvenate within the healthcare facility. The metallic catch the light creating gentle reflective moments that change with the time of day.
Works of this Nature are available for commission. Please get in touch through the contact form.
